Russia’s Yandex signs mobile application deals after Google case
MOSCOW, Jul 28 (PRIME) -- Russian Internet giant Yandex has signed agreements with cell phone producers on default installment of its apps after a ruling of the Federal Antimonopoly Service to condemn U.S. Google for abuse of the leading market position, the Russian company said in a statement on Thursday.
“After the Federal Antimonopoly Service had ruled in our favor in a dispute with Google, we signed several new distribution agreements. This has already affected Yandex’s share on the Android platform. It began rising at the end of June,” CEO of Yandex in Russia Alexander hulgin said as cited in the statement.
The watchdog said that Google guilty of violation of the competition law in September 2015 and ordered Google to eliminate the breaches by amending agreements with cell phone producers. The U.S. corporation appealed the ruling, and the litigations still continue, while Google is looking for an amicable deal with the antitrust authority.
